Vocational Training School. Mallorca
The project reimagines a vocational training school as a landscape driven educational campus, expanding an existing early education facility across an entire urban block in Mallorca. The intervention is defined by a strong relationship between architecture, terrain, and climate.
The buildings are constructed entirely from locally sourced, responsibly managed wood, reinforcing a material strategy rooted in place, sustainability, and craftsmanship. Two new volumes are linked to the existing school through covered transitional walkways that frame a central open void, turning movement into a spatial experience and establishing visual continuity across the site.
The landscape becomes a key design tool. In response to Mallorca’s torrential rainfall, the natural ground is excavated to form an artificial lake that functions as a water retention basin and sustainable drainage system. The reused excavated soil reshapes the topography, creating subtle elevations that enrich views, diversify the outdoor spaces, and integrate architecture seamlessly into its surroundings.
The result is a learning environment where built form and landscape operate as one, offering a calm, material-rich setting that supports education through spatial clarity and environmental awareness.
